After our winter season in Vietnam we arrived back in Jeju island, and so did the wind. Spring just started, so the island is filled with its famous yellow flowers. Wind in the early kitesurf season can be a bit cold especially when the wind comes from the northern direction. But that does not stop our excitement. As fun as it is to tour around it always feels good to be back at your home spot(s).

The spring wind in Jeju can be very strong! We travel around the island to find the best wind and water conditions to ride. Usually wind is a bit softer when it is coming from the South, but the past days we only used our 7/8 meter kite. The weather is still bit chilly, and on colder days I would definitely recommend using a 5 mm wetsuit. But when the clouds disappear you can already feel the warmth of the sun. This is also a reminder to put a thick layer of sunscreen on your face even when it is cloudy! You don’t want to start the kitesurf season getting the same tan as a lobster.

The good thing about doing kitesurfing and wing foiling in spring is that the beaches are not that crowded yet. It will just be you and other watersport enthousiast. Therefore it is also a great idea to take your lessons in spring. Our kitesurfing lessons are usually private lessons so you will get enough feedback to progress fast and make the most out of the kiteboard season. We usually end our kite and wing foil season in November, then we will fly to Vietnam to start our winter season there. Our first kitesurf student came all the way from California to get a lesson on her golden birthday. She managed to ride for at least 200m on her first lesson. She definitely has the kitesurfing bug! To celebrate both festive occasions we went out to get a delicious dinner.
